Ineffiency of the Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education

In the past the competency certificate issued by the Sri Lanka Medical Council was an essential component in recognizing a Medical school. But due to a gazette notification issued by the Minister of Higher education several months back, this requirement was made non mandatory.

The medical profession reacted to this situation swiftly and representation was made to HE the President. As a result an order was issued to the secretary, Ministry of higher education, to cancel the new gazette immediately and to revert the situation. But to the dismay of the medical profession this order has not been carried out yet.

GMOA believes this situation as grossly unsatisfactory and requests the authorities to carry out presidential orders without delay.
