It has been reported that the SLMC has lost one of its fundamentals which is vital for its function as an independent body. That is”collective responsibility”.
This was highlighted by a recently published news article by certain council members to claim credit for correcting(?) the SLMC registration status back to “right to practice Medicine and Surgery”. (The Island 25-03-2013, දිවයින 26-03-2013).
At the same time many point out that since no Sri Lankan medical professional has yet been denied of “right to practice surgery” for the last 8 years by this “error”, most likely no body will be affected even it is left to remain the same in the future also.
