The Medical Officers who are in service including the intern medical officers were exempted from the 2nd Language proficiency exam made mandatory according to 7/2007 circular as a government policy, after GMOA pointed out that they are not in a position to attend a relevant focused training programme because:
- it will compromise the smooth functioning of the health care delivery system
- it is likely to become a burden on medical officers aspiring post graduate studies
Therefore the existing E-Bar Tamil / Sinhala exam will be considered as the equivalent of the Language proficiency exam for them on proposal made by GMOA.
